Dear Jim,

Actually, I prefer:

That's not completely clear. I think we could see a price
below $800 sometime early next week if there were any good
news about the dollar, the USA government's fiscal, foreign,
war, or trade policies, or if there were any news about a
major gold discovery.

At the same time, as I've been telling my subscribers, the
days of prices below $750 are very likely gone forever. I
would say that 2008 is going to be a year like 1979 where
there is no Summer doldrums. I would not be surprised by
a price above $900 during November 2007, $1000 in December
2007, and $1500 in January 2008. (Just because I would not
be surprised by such figures doesn't mean they are certain
to happen.)

Of course, in inflation adjusted dollars, as opposed to
nominal dollars, we have a long way to go to reach the 1980
peak. I think using the government's figures for price
inflation, such as CPI, we would be looking at $2700 gold
for the 1980 high. (1980US$850 = ~ 2007US$2700) but the
actual monetary inflation has been much higher than the
government reports.

Regards,

Jim
