Did you just subscribe now? This has been the news since May 1st.
The 'truth' is that e-gold has been indicted (charged).
The 'rubbish' is the charges.
The first day's court transcript showed the judge sounding quite
reasonable and questioning the prosecution's absurd claims, but we
haven't seen any follow up transcript yet!
Since then, e-gold has continued operation, but certain accounts are
frozen (maybe seized), including the 1MDC accounts, and those of
certain major exchangers. There does not seem to have been any slow
down in transaction activity, but there were very recently one or more
very large transactions, that seems to have coincided with a bunch of
gold being redeemed from the system.
Pecunix seems to have gained business, or at least a lot of enquiries
about exchanging e-gold for Pecunix. Maybe other DGCs have too?
Non-US accounts may still be able to send e-gold to businesses like
TheGoldCasino or dBourse (TGC's private stock exchange), but a few
months ago e-gold were pretty much forced by US law to block US
accounts from trading with non-US casinos. This had the effect of
(roughly) halving the TGC dividend for the past two monthly payments.
As US accounts are already blocked, I don't know if there has been any
further loss of business since May 1st.
These events have also prompted a flurry of activity on the PVCSE
(Private Venture Capital Stock Exchange), although you might
reasonably scoff at the small amount of trade there. :0
