Wouldn't it be interesting if:
1. e-gold had a back-up of its accounts data-base at a different location
somewhere that the gestapo didn't know
about.
and---
2. considering that most of the actual bullion is stored outside of Amerika,
and e-gold, as far as I know still
controls the actual bullion.
and--
3. the e-gold operation left it's current jurisdiction, honored
all accounts, frozen or otherwise and told the current local
regime to go piss in the wind.
Of course this would be in violation of a court order...
e-gold is in a tough spot.
Their choice seems to be either compliance or loyalty to its
account holders.
They will probably fight it out in the courts. I'm not too
optimistic about the outcome of that, as the mechanics of the
current legal process seems to be along the lines of the
government defining what it wants to achieve, staging a three
ring circus of a legal proceeding, and gaining public
sentiment via trendy 'newspeak'.
I saw the 1mdc thing coming for a long time, that's why I never bothered
opening an account with them.
That's also why I've kept my e-gold account balance very low.
However, my minimizing my own exposure to risk does little for the oveall
situation.
The overall situation is that free markets need DGC's.
DGC's are perceived as a threat by the current financial paradigm.
The current financial paradigm is not a free market.
It is a 'relatively' free market for the few who are in
the best position to capitalize on the current legal
framework, which they influence heavily.
At this point in time it is obvious to me that
honor and integrity in commerce are not the desired end result of financial
compliance laws.
Control is the desired result of financial compliance laws.
I choose to no longer comply.
