That first (roving bug) part is shocking news, but the second part,
the problem of cloning is hardly news, although it does highlight a
serious flaw in the SMS component of certain financial institution
login procedures, if it is still a valid, significant problem!  The
enormous statistics quoted on cell phone cloning and fraudulent calls
was from 1996. Mobile phones were analogue back then. Since then we
have gone through GSM, CDMA, and now 3G technology. Is cloning
occuring in significant numbers on the newer phone systems? If so, why
quote obsolete (alarmist) statistics?
